Over the years, I’ve often had to articulate my value as a Realtor. Now, as a coach, I teach my clients to do the same. Because having a Realtor in a real estate transaction is like having a surgeon perform your appendectomy—leave it to someone who is an expert in that field. Here’s why:
1. Market Knowledge; Real estate brokers are better equipped to gauge market conditions. A seasoned broker will know the best times (of the year) to sell, and whether the market favors the buyer or the seller.
2. Navigating The Legal Process; Real estate transactions involve exhaustive paperwork. Since these are legal documents, they are not something you want to leave to chance. A skilled professional has the knowledge and expertise to handle the paperwork.
3. Marketing; There is a difference between listing a home and marketing a home. Marketing is about getting exposure in the best places and to the right people. A skilled marketer will know what features and benefits to highlight in order to fetch the highest offer.
4. Emotional Stability; The purchase and sale process can be an emotional rollercoaster. For most people, buying a home is the biggest purchase they will ever make so having an objective, third party will help them stay grounded and focused.
5. Skilled Negotiator; A good negotiation requires good listing skills. It is the ability to ask questions to fully understand what the other side wants so you can develop a solution that satisfies both parties. Leaving this to a novice will cost time and money.
So hire a skilled and experienced broker. You will be glad you did!
